- Whole Grain Rice
White rice has been our best-loved staple food for thousands of years. We typically eat rice 2-3 times a day, but it’s also being responsible for a host of health issue. Consuming white rice may raise blood sugar levels, especially for those who are suffering from diabetes. This is because white rice has a high Glycemic Index (GI), which generally takes a longer time to digest and increasing demand for insulin. Hence, getting whole grain rice with lower GI for your dad helps him from losing all the fun from eating rice! Wholegrain Basmati Rice is known to have the lowest GI of all rice types and effective in managing diabetes.
Dried fruits may work as a great snacking choice for your dad. Not only they can boost fiber, but they also supply our body with large amounts of antioxidants. Specifically dried apricots, which may help in lowering blood pressure and the risk of chronic diseases. Your dad can use them in salads, desserts, cereal or granola bowl, or even just by itself during snack time! Make sure to look for dried apricots that are deep brown color to avoid sulfur.
